ESPRESSO COMMUNICATIONS LAUNCHES SOCIAL MEDIA PRACTICE AND RESOURCE CENTRE
News Summary
16 August 2007

Espresso Communications, a full service public relations consultancy and GlobalFluency Partner Agency, today announced the launch of its social media practice along with an Australian social media resource centre featuring blogs and podcasts published by technology journalists and professionals.

Over 100 journalist blogs, podcasts and blogs by IT industry professionals have been researched and indexed on the website www.espressocomms.com.au.  Corrie McLeod, Managing Director of Espresso Communications said, “Social media has redefined the way we communicate with our stakeholders and this needs to be part of any outreach strategy.  We are looking at ways to create direct relationships between companies and individuals in order to deliver unfiltered messages through vehicles like blogs, podcasts and social networking platforms.”

“Espresso Communications has developed the social media resource centre for communication professionals who have an interest in tracking conversations around technology issues and what is being said about their brands.  Social media was built in the spirit of sharing as a community so we’ve made this available on del.icio.us for everyone to suggest and share sites that are relevant.”

Key highlights on the social media scene in Australia include:
  • There is almost an equal number of  freelancers versus in-house journalists publishing blogs;
  • In the past seven days, the most active blogs and podcasts have been Techblorge, Gizmag, Frankarr, I Started Something and ITRadio;
  • Microsoft, Apple, Mac and Google are the most frequently mentioned brands on blogs.

In addition to its public relations consultancy services, Espresso Communications has launched its social media practice to assist companies with:
  • Social media strategy
  • Social media release development and distribution
  • Social media monitoring
  • Blogs and blog relations
  • Podcasting

Founded in 2004, Espresso Communications represents a range of clients in the consumer and enterprise technology industries ranging from start-ups to global brands.
